Elina Nilsson is an Associate Professor at the Centre for Gender Research, Uppsala University. She teaches on undergraduate and advanced level on subjects such as family and kinship, reproduction, postcolonial feminism, sexuality, and research methods. Her research interests include surrogate motherhood and assisted reproduction, family and kinship studies, medical anthropology, and global intimacies.
She has a background in Cultural Anthropology and Gender studies and completed her PhD in Gender Studies in 2022 with the monography Thai Surrogate Mothers’ Experiences of Transnational Commercial Surrogacy which is available online.
